What a long strange trip it’s been…

April 19th, 2012 by

“It’s nice to be a back in the office” is not a phrase I say often. However, the last few weeks have been chock-full of events stretching from Austin to SF to Chicago. Now that I’m back, I’m finally getting the opportunity to sit down in our new “digs” and collect my thoughts from my recent travels, or should I say, travails.

Indies Going Mobile at SXSW

March 13th, 2012 by

Many years ago, I was a DJ at my college radio station, KDVS 90.3, and thought that I would work in the music industry.  That never happened, though I remain a big music fan.

Needless to say, I am pretty excited as I am headed to Austin for South by Southwest, where I will be moderating the “Indies Going Mobile” panel on Wednesday, March 14th.

Music is one of the most popular mobile use cases. Yet the music industry lags well behind retail, travel, sports, news, finance and even soap companies in reaching this dynamic and rapidly growing user base.  Following the swift rise and meteoric fall of ringtones, and its associated revenues, many labels stopped putting much energy towards mobile.  Without their label’s support, music artists, especially low-budget Indies, have been left to fend for themselves in a channel that even some Fortune 500 companies struggle with. But most artists are not digital marketers—they focus on their music, and all too often, mobile efforts are limited to Facebook and Twitter updates. (more…)

Trilibis @ SXSW — Vote For Us!

August 25th, 2011 by

Important events take months of preparation and South by Southwest, the mecca for everything genius, is certainly in that category. For the 2012 SXSW Interactive and Music Events, we are putting together two amazing panels. But we can’t get there without your help! Please vote for our “A Must or a Bust: HTML5 and Your Mobile Strategy” and “Indies Going Mobile” panels via the SXSW Panel Picker portal.

Our “A Must or a Bust: HTML5 and Your Mobile Strategy” panel will feature Jessica Yi — Chief Products Officer at Fandango, Gerald Abrahamian — VP, Digital Operations at NBCUniversal, Maria Ocampo — VP of Business Development at Collider Media, and our own Ted Verani as the session moderator. The panelists will provide their candid opinion on the readiness of HTML5 for primetime.

The “Indies Going Mobile” session will focus on how independent labels and artists can leverage the mobile web. The speaker line-up is also quite impressive for this session: Tricia Rice of Welk Music Group, Gray Gannaway, formerly with CD Baby, Edward Kiang of Wind-up Records, and Chris Campbell, who worked at MTV Networks, SNOCAP and imeem before joining our team at Trilibis half a year ago.

Get more info and vote for our panels via the SXSW Music and SXSW Interactive portals. Please take a few moments to create a quick account, so that SXSW can verify that you’re not a robot.

Vote for us! We can’t get to SXSW without YOU!

Miller Lite Sweeps at SXSW

March 14th, 2011 by

SXSW Miller Lite Campaign

South by Southwest is known for its hip film and music scene, 24/7 techie-meet-celebs parties and endless swag. Miller Lite, one of the main festival sponsors, has designed a fun sweepstakes “Beer To The People” specifically for SXSW. The campaign relies on QR codes featured throughout its festival signage.

Through one of our partners, Trilibis was tasked with handling the mobile web experience portion of the campaign. Check it out by going to thebeerforthepeople.com*. While you’re there, don’t forget to enter the sweeps – so even if you’re not at SXSW, you can still have a taste of it.

*Update: the promo and its corresponding pages are no longer live.
